Something is Coming to Your Summer Table

A little preview of what we’ve been cooking up — and why I think you’re going to love it.

I have been sitting on a secret for a few months now, and I am genuinely too excited to keep it to myself any longer.

This summer, I am releasing a free recipe ebook in partnership with Alberta Chicken Producers. And if you have been following along here at GetJoyfull for a while, I think you already know the kind of recipes that are going to be inside it.

The kind that travel. The kind that taste just as good cold from a container at the ball diamond as they do warm from the pan on a Tuesday night. The kind your kids start requesting by name, and your friends ask you to bring to every backyard gathering from July through September.

The ebook is called Take It Outside. And it is exactly what it sounds like.

“Ten family recipes built for real Alberta summer life. Food that belongs outside.”

Ten recipes. Four categories — salads and bowls, bakes and boats, wraps and tacos, and from the grill. Every single one built around fresh Alberta chicken from local family farms. Every single one road-tested by my own crew through many, many Alberta summers.

My little loves

As a Registered Dietitian and a mama of three who has been eating and cooking in this province for 25 years, I know what summer eating actually looks like for families here. It is not complicated or precious. It is flavourful, practical food that fuels the season without adding stress to it. That is exactly what this collection is.

What to expect

Every recipe in Take It Outside comes with my Dietitian Tips — the kind of practical, evidence-based nutrition notes I share with my clients that are actually helpful at the grocery store and the dinner table. You will also find nutrition information per serving and meal prep ideas to make each recipe work harder for your week.

There is a recipe in here that I shared earlier this year. One that I have been making for my family every single summer for longer than I can remember. A sandwich that made people text me the day it aired asking for the recipe. A no-cook chicken salad wrap that is going to become your go-to lunch from now through September.

I am not going to give everything away yet. But I want you to be watching for this.

EMILY’S DIETITIAN TIPS

Fresh Alberta chicken is raised right here in our province by local family farms. When you choose Alberta chicken, you are supporting the people in your own community. That means something — especially in a province that takes local food as seriously as we do.

Summer is the easiest time of year to build a meal prep habit. One grilled chicken session on the weekend can fuel five completely different meals before Friday. The ebook will show you exactly how.

Protein at every meal is one of the most practical nutrition habits I recommend — especially for active families through a busy Alberta summer. Chicken is one of the most versatile and affordable complete proteins available. We are going to make the most of it.
